This is another rewrite of an old poem. I’m not sure when I first started this one. I think it was 2010 or so, but honestly I’m not sure. It’s actually pretty true to the original. I added a couple of verses, and changed the phrasing slightly here and there.

***** ***** ***** ***** *****

I stand alone
The dark at bay
Holding on
To threads of hope

A precipice awaits
A decision eternal
Damned if I do
Likewise if not

And so it goes I find
Life leads us astray
The hopes we have
Fade…

And we’re left
To mend the pieces
Of shattered dreams
And hopes betrayed

To mend the wounds
Heal the fences
Breath some life
Into cold ashes

But now and then
The shadows grow
People change
Friendships fold

Sometimes by choice,
Others, by chance
Whatever’s in store
I walk this path

Alone I stand
The dark at bay
Holding on to
Threads
